When you hear the name ‘Kovalam’ you would only imagine the beach
on the Arabian Sea in Kerala. There is a Kovalam on the eastern coast as well.
It is a beautiful coastal village almost 40 km south of Chennai.
Wikipedia says that the place was developed by the Nawab of
Carnatic, Saadat Ali. It was taken over by the French in 1746, and destroyed by
the British in 1752.
This is not an erotic beach filled with white skinned women
on their bikinis basking under hot sun – yet an exotic one.
